Get It Done – July 2018

068July started out with a bang! Literally, since Independence Day was in the middle of the week, some places had their fireworks displays on the previous weekend.

DH, DS#3, his lovely girlfriend and I went to see the display at a little town nearby. We had a lovely time strolling through town during the daylight hours and “Ooohed & Aaahed” after the sun set and the fireworks started.

On Independence Day itself, we puttered around with some work that needed done, then, despite the rain, we joined DS#2 on a boating trip that lasted all afternoon and evening. The rain showers did stop shortly after we started out, but everything was thoroughly soaked by then. DD and her boyfriend,  DGC#2, #3 and #5, DH and I enjoyed a lovely albeit wet day out on the lake.

Finally, we had a family reunion on the 8th, where we enjoyed visiting with family and ate way more than we should have!! But how can you not overeat when there are so many yummy food choices available!?! It’s salads for the rest of the week around here to make up for the calorie overload from Sunday!!

And, of course, because of all of the above, I’m running behind with my Get It Done goals. Seems like I’m always a day late and a dollar short!

For June I wanted to:

  1. Quilt Lozenge quilt – I finished this flimsy a few years ago. Just last week I finally figured out what quilting design I would like to use on it. Now I just need to get it loaded on the frame and I can do the quilting! – I’ve started the quilting, but I haven’t finished it yet 😦  And, apparently, I haven’t got a photo of the finished flimsy, but this will give you an idea of what I’m working on.001
  2. Make all the blocks for the fox quilt. I have almost all the smaller units made, so it shouldn’t take too long to get the blocks put together. – Also, started, but not finished. 510
  3. Cut more scraps – when I say cutting scraps, I am doing a number of things. 1) I am taking scraps of fabric that are of a usable size and trimming them for the scrap user’s system (my sizes are 1″, 1 1/2″, 2″, 2 1/2″, 3 1/2″ and 4 1/2″) or 2) any scraps of fabric that are less than 1″ wide gets chopped up for pet bed filling or 3) any scraps of batting that are less than approx. 6″ wide get chopped up for pet bed filling. So I may be doing any or all of those things when I am cutting scraps! – DONE! – Yes, this I have been managing to do because I haven’t quantified it. So if I manage to get 15 minutes of cutting done, I can claim a finish!
  4. Make one more Tea Leaves circle. – DONE – but just barely. I finished the circle on June 30th, just in the nick of time!!

For July I want to:

  1. Do all the cutting prep for my “Snake” quilt.  (I need to come up with a better name for this project!!!)
  2. Finish the Lozenges quilt and get the fox quilt to the flimsy stage.
  3. Cut more scraps
  4. Make one more Tea Leaves circle

Okay, those are the goals to work on, so I better get at it.

Peace
