One of my goals for August was to “kit up” some fabric for the Blue and Cheddar quilt, so that I would have it ready to sew whenever I might want to start. Specifically, if we go camping or I travel to somewhere and I want to have a project to take, it would be all ready to go with me.
In order to get everything ready, I’ve been having to cut some fabric. I need 1 1/2″ strips in blue and neutral. And I wanted to cut the cheddar triangles that are needed to make each block.
I was using my Stripology ruler (which I LOVE, BTW):
Since I only wanted one 1 1/2″ strip of each fabric I decided while I was cutting the 1 1/2″ strips that I would also cut some 2″ and 2 1/2″ strips as well. The 2 1/2″ strips will be used for the charity quilts that DGC#3 and I are making. The 2″ strips will go into the box for future projects.
I haven’t got the entire quilt kitted, but I’ve got plenty to last for a while. If DH and I manage a trip or two this fall, I’ll be able to get things packed in a jiffy and not have to wonder what I should take to play with during the early morning/late evening hours.
I’ve been making nine patches with blue and neutral strips as my Leader/Enders and those are all going into the Blue and Cheddar project box along with all the pre-cut strips and triangles. I’ll be ready to start sewing blocks together before you know it!!!
