Quilt Preparation

I was supposed to go into the office yesterday but the weather was really yucky. Fortunately my other boss is very relaxed about scheduling and I was able to change it to today. So I get to go in today!!

But I was able to stay home yesterday. While I did do some house cleaning, I spent a large proportion of the day with various sewing related projects. Yay!

First I finished the applique on the red and green block that I’ve been working on since January:

That’s my foot to give you a scale for this block. I love, love, love it. Now I have to decide what to do with it. Should I turn it into a wall hanging or go for broke and make eight more blocks to make it into a bed sized quilt?

Next on the list was filling bobbins:

bobbinsits all fun

Next I worked on straightening things up in the studio, so that I can concentrate on sewing:

I didn’t get too distracted while I was cleaning! But I have a mental list of other projects that I should work on sometime. Since I haven’t written anything down, the list will disappear until I sort through stuff in the studio again!!! After the cleaning I decorated the Holiday Tree:

This isn’t the greatest photo – you can’t see the Irish doll that I use as a tree topper, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like.

Finally, I cut the binding strips for Grand Illusion:

I’m going to use the all-machine binding method to finish it off. The black is a different fabric from the one I used in the quilt, but only 1/8″ will be showing once I put it all together, so I don’t think it will be too noticeable. 😉

I also put together another hexie flower and a half while I was watching TV in the evening.

All in all, a very productive day!

Don’t forget that we have to turn our clocks forward this weekend.
