Get It Done

Judy Laquidara over at Patchwork Times had been hosting a linky party each month for “Getting It Done”. I really liked the idea of setting four quilt related goals for each month. It sort-of helped to keep me on track. But Judy didn’t finish out the year in December and I don’t see any signs of a linky party for this year. I’m not criticizing, mind you, just making a statement.

So I’ve decided that I’m going to carry on the idea by myself. At the end of each month I’ll post a list of four goals and make a report of my progress. I know I’m already slipping, since this is the 8th of January already, but hey, better late than never, right!?!

My goals for January are going to be:

1) Finish the Bonnie Hunter “Celtic Solstice” mystery quilt to the flimsy stage.

2) Finish the Bonnie Hunter “Easy Street” mystery quilt (from last year) to the flimsy stage!! I had it finished as a twin size, but I want to make it queen size, so I have some un-sewing and re-sewing to do. And I’ve been saying I want to get it done since July!!! So, I am going to get it done NOW!!

3) Make a dozen hexie flowers. I have a plan (sorry, it can’t be revealed until it’s done!) so, I’ll be trying to keep up with making hexie flowers for quite some time:

4) Load quilt onto Fun Quilter (and, if I’m really lucky, get it quilted!) This one is for DH (sh-h-h, don’t tell!!):

Okay, that’s my four quilting related goals. We’ll see how well I do at the end of this month. If anyone else would like to join with me to keep motivated you can leave a comment with your goals. This will work even if you don’t have a blog, because it’s not a linky party. Although, I’m not ruling out a linky party sometime in the future. I guess it will depend on how many comments I get about it. So be sure to let me know if this is something that you’d like to join. If it is, then I guess I’ll have to figure out how to host a linky party!!!

Peace

  1. I love to see what you’re planning for the month! There is no way I can hope to accomplish 4 things but I’d like to try for ONE! Although I don’t have a blog and can’t do one right now, maybe if it’s posted for all the world to see, I’ll actually get it done. So my one goal for the month is to get Bonnie’s mystery quilt sewn into blocks so I can quilt-as-you-go. Then I would have a nice hand-sewing project for all these cold winter nights.

  2. I have decided that in 2014 I want to actually get stuff done (and not just talk about getting stuff done).

My 4 goals for January are:

    a. Finish sample quilt top for a one-day retreat to be held in February.
    b. Finish star quilt top (it needs the borders finished).
    c. Get my 2013 Row Robin strips into a quilt top (sashing & borders needed).
    d. Finish the crocheted tote bag that has been hanging around for years (I only need to sew the handles on it. . . .good grief!).

  3. You have a lot on your plate for this month. I would love to try, but I already know I wouldn’t get it done! Good luck with all of your beautiful projects!
