I have been trying to be conservative about buying new fabric. I didn’t shop at Hancock’s last week. I planned on it, because I thought I had an email with a code for 20% off site wide. But then I couldn’t find it in my inbox. So I just said, “Heck with it!” I guess there was a little bit of good to come out of the problems with my internet – I didn’t spend a huge amount of money on fabric – at least not at Hancock’s!!!
I had gone shopping at JoAnn’s the other week when Mom and I were out for the day. I didn’t go too crazy there:
This is the stack of grey fabrics that I’m starting to collect for the Nascar quilt. I actually had a few in my stash already, but I bought eight more yards of various shades to fill out the collection. The Nascar quilt is still at the “thinking about it” stage. Eventually I’ll start cutting some strips and auditioning the fabrics. We’ll see which ones make the cut.
As far as using fabric; I’ve been sewing the donation quilt, but that doesn’t use up any of my stash since it was a kit provided by my quilt group. And I haven’t played with Bedford Beauty since the retreat, so I haven’t been able to count that fabric as “used” yet. I started cutting out strips for the quilt for DGC#4, but, again, I’m not counting the fabric as “used” until the project is finished.
Oh, I almost forgot, I used a whopping half yard of fabric for the backing and binding on Tiny Triangles. And that project is FINISHED!!!! Hooray!!
Fabric used this week: 0.5 yards
Fabric added this week: 8 yards
Fabric used YTD: 32.5 yards
Fabric added YTD: 62.25 yards
YTD total: 29.75 yards added
I’m still plugging away at organizing the studio. I wanted to say “Thank you” to Heather P, who put such a lovely spin on the state of my space. She said it was a “well-used creative space and there’s nothing wrong with that.” What a positive thing to say, when it really looks as if a craft store decided to empty their dumpster in my room!!! 😉
