Design Wall Monday – February 18, 2013

In the evenings I usually do some hand sewing while watching television. I had been working on the Advent wall hanging, but that’s finished now. So I pulled out the stand-by project and have been playing with my Tea Leaves.

This weekend I decided to put up my Tea Leaves circles on the design wall. There are 42 circles and one half circle. I’ve been working on this off and on for approx. three years now. To make a full size quilt I need approx 240 circles and some more half circles. I’m not sure where the number 240 came from. I have it written on the dry erase board in my studio. At some time I must have done some calculations and come up with that number. And I didn’t write down the amount of half circles required.

Anyway, at the rate I am going, I should have all the circles done in approx. 15 years. Then, of course, I have to put all the circles together! And then it needs to be quilted!! Good thing I’m not working on a deadline with this quilt!

Check out what everyone else has on their design walls HERE.

The tiny triangles are still up on the wall too. There isn’t any change in the way they look on the wall, but I have been sewing some more triangles together. I need to assemble four more blocks and I’ve decided to add a sawtooth border to the wall hanging. So I needed to make more half square triangle units. Hopefully, there will be a change in the design wall by next Monday.

The Bedford Beauty blocks are off the wall and are assembled with the sashing into rows. Yesterday I was stitching the back part of the sashing on the rows. I have three more rows to finish and then I can sew the sashing to assemble the rows into the main body of the quilt. Then I’ll need to work on the borders.

Whew! If I didn’t enjoy quilting so much, I would be overwhelmed with the amount of work that it takes to get one finished!!!

Before I forget, here is the answer to What the Heck Friday:

Bev was correct – If you ask Norman, this is the “Roaring Monster of Death”! As soon as it comes to life, he takes off. I’ve noticed that he runs in a zig-zag pattern! I wonder if he thinks that will confuse the “monster” so that it won’t be able to get him!!
