6 down, 18 more to go

Yes, days until Christmas, but also the amount of ornaments for my advent quilt that need to be finished.

I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to fuse the ornaments to felt and then at a later time I would buttonhole stitch around them. Well, you know how one things leads to another? I had fused all the ornaments and cut them out. Then I realized that they needed hanging loops. I don’t know why I didn’t realize that earlier because they obviously need to hang from the buttons that are on the quilt. So I needed to attach a loop to each ornament. Well, since I had the thread to sew the loops onto the back of the ornaments, I decided to see how quickly I could buttonhole stitch around one. It didn’t take too long. So I reasoned that I could finish a few each evening while watching TV with DH. And, of course, I cannot deviate from this course. There is no way that I can have some ornaments with buttonhole stitching and some without hanging on the same quilt. So I am now committed to buttonhole stitching around all of the ornaments before they get hung on the quilt.

It’s not like I have way too many things to do already!!! There is the quilt for DBIL to finish, the hexie project, the TWO mystery quilts (admittedly they are not urgent, but I’d like to keep up to date with them.) Oh, and I have to make some Barbie clothes for one DGC, because that is what she asked for. AND, don’t let me forget, I promised another DGC that I would make a dress for her American Girl doll. And this #%@!!& cold is still hanging on, which isn’t helping anything!!! It’s much better now, but I start coughing every time I talk too much (according to DH, that is very often!!)

I have warned DH that Saturday is going to be a “sewing” day. I will be concentrating on finishing up a number of these projects, so that I don’t have as many deadlines hanging over my head. I am not sure what he is going to get into that day, but I told him that I am going to be starting early and finishing late!!! Cannot wait!!!

  1. You really do take on a lot of projects with deadlines. I don’t even promise myself, when I’ll finish all the projects I’d like to do. Last Christmas I asked for backing for my Reproduction Basket quilt. Amber bought it for me and I still haven’t taken it out of the package. When does your long arm get here? Hint Hint Help Hint!
