DH decided to paint the dining room, entry and hall so that it would look nice for the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner. Nice idea. Unfortunately, the execution of that idea is what is causing all the problems.
First was deciding on the color. DH said that I could get any color I wanted – it didn’t matter to him. Well, that wasn’t true!! He hated the first color I picked out. Then he said he wanted a golden, beige, tan, light, pastel color. Huh???? I came home with a soft yellow beige which I really liked. He was really disappointed with that one, especially since it is very similar to what we already had. But he said, “Never mind, this is fine.” So he and DS started painting. About once every half hour, DH has groaned about the “stupid” paint color. Then he finally brought me a butternut squash and said that that was the color he was thinking of!! Gr-r-r-r!!! Why couldn’t he tell me that before I went to the paint store?? Much as I love the man, he can drive me absolutely over the edge sometimes!!
Now, of course, the house is a disaster area. There is drywall dust coating everything from all the skimmed spots on the walls that needed to be sanded. Something that he didn’t even plan on doing at first!! Really!?! You’re going to paint the walls without repairing the dings and holes!?! I think not!! While I was making my second trip to the paint store he skimmed the walls. Mind you, he does this sort of work for other people and makes sure that everything is just right. Apparently, the same rules do not apply to our home! I can’t really say that the walls look in any better repair than when we started – but at least there is a fresh coat of paint!!
OK – I’m going to stop ranting now. Thank you for allowing me to vent a little bit!
Needless to say, I haven’t been able to do much sewing with all the craziness going on. I bought these fabrics during our shopping excursion at quilt retreat:
I haven’t been able to do anything with them yet. 😦
Maybe after Thanksgiving I’ll be able to get some serious sewing work done. I really do need to get serious with DS#3 Christmas gift. I started cutting pieces and even got some of the quilting done. But there is quite a bit more that needs to be done. I’ll post some pictures when I have more to show.
